VRAY MATERIAL LIBRARY UPDATE
I'm assuming our file server didn't appreciate multiple people with different logins accessing the same folder via mklinks.Īnyway, now I'm trying out a local sync - basically a read only sync so it pulls down the material library from our asset server, but will update in real time whenever someone makes a new material, etc etc etc. I am no expert using mklinks, and for some reason this caused our material library to get trashed over and over again.
VRAY MATERIAL LIBRARY WINDOWS
This became a bit cumbersome as our material library grew and it relied on our workstations AND render nodes to restart on a consistent basis (which does not happen on the headless render nodes), so I TRIED using some symbolic links (all on windows environment) so the materials folder would be pointed to the correct networked location. For a while we were using a script to copy everything down from our shared asset drive. KonstantinI just wanted to bump and poke this a bit. Options for saving scene materials to a custom library will also be a nice addition and is something on our 'to do' list. Anyone else have this issue or know a solution Im using sketchup 2020 and the. I’ve tried re-opening, also with a new fresh file. However when opening the asset editor i can’t see any vray materials - i have tried to relink the library but no luck. Support for custom library locations is a feature that will be implemented in one of the upcoming updates. Hi fam, this might be 100 newb or something else I have just downloaded vray for the first time in about 5 years so getting back into it. Would be so great if you could do it with Vray too. My normal SU materials path is a folder in my dropbox, so that when I'm out, any new materials are synced from my laptop and workstation. An option to 'save all materials to user folder', that collected all Vray referenced files and saved them in a folder with the same name as the project would be amazing. this would be amazing for people needing to work on projects across different machines, especially with regards to missing bitmaps, etc. It would be really nice to have a second, user materials path that the library also references, so that you could keep your materials on the network or a shared folder. Is it not possible to add to the material library, or am I just doing it the wrong way? And when I try to save a material into the folder in programfiles/chaosgroup/./materials it says I don't have permission and points me to another folder. It seems like I should be able to just drag and drop the material over to the library, but nothing happens. Is there any way to save materials that I have created myself into the material library?
VRAY MATERIAL LIBRARY HOW TO
We use D drive at work because it's massive but now we are having all these issues with vray and not all 3ds Max users know how to troubleshoot such minor problems.2nd post, Sorry I'm a new user with quite a few questions
VRAY MATERIAL LIBRARY SOFTWARE
I find that quite a few software seems to struggle with installation paths when it's something other than C drive.

I also find that 3ds Max doesn't remember this path in other max file scenes Not a big deal right now, but certainly should be fixed in the future. Then restart and it should hopefully work.Īnd I will check it out when I'm back from my holidays in August, currently I'm on vacation without any computer ( vlado )For now I added the path manually, which renders ok but weirdly within material editor, if you click on bitmap preview button, the textures don't come up unless I also point them manually to the folder. The solution for me was, to add (similar like Aleksandar said above) the path:īut the path was already there, so I added also the path to the subfolder of the Vray Material Library: the "assets"-folder itself.
